Plans to develop Knoxville's south waterfront move forward

Development plans for Knoxville's south waterfront are moving forward. The city council passed a resolution Tuesday giving Mayor Rogero the authority to build a permanent greenway and the Cityview Riverwalk Extension.

The riverwalk extension would move west of the current cityview at Riverwalk Condos, then go south toward Blount Avenue. The condos sit on the south waterfront next to the Henley Bridge.

This is all part of the South Waterfront Vision Plan.

TDOT awarded the city more than $600,000 in August of 2009 for use on the south waterfront.

Woman fired by UT gets to pursue Sabbath complaint

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A federal appeals court has revived a lawsuit by a Seventh Day Adventist who claims she was unfairly fired by the University of Tennessee at Knoxville because she refused to work on her Sabbath.

The ruling from a panel of judges for the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was issued Tuesday in Cincinnati in favor of Kimberly Crider. The opinion says a lower court incorrectly dismissed the case when it should have explored whether UT could have accommodated Crider's religious beliefs without undue hardship for the university.
