News

Crews took two men to the hospital after they were shot in south Knoxville overnight.

Officers responded to a shooting call at Southmont Apartments at 1413 E. Moody Avenue shortly after midnight Monday. When officers arrived, they found 17-year-old Devin Smith, who was shot in the leg, and 23-year-old Teshon Brinson, who was shot in the arm.

Emergency workers took both men to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Smith and Brinson told police they were walking on Baker Avenue when a stranger shot them with a handgun late Sunday night. The men said they then walked to the apartment complex to call police because they knew a person who lived there.

Investigators said they couldn't find any evidence of a crime scene on Baker Avenue.

Officials said they're still investigating the incident.
