Two taken to the hospital after rollover crash


(WBIR) A three vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Knox County sent two people to the hospital, according to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department.

The incident happened on East Governor John Sevier Highway and Sevierville Pike.

One car rolled over onto its side during the crash.

Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, the rescue squad, and the Knox County Sheriff's Department worked the incident.


Local moms kick off World Breastfeeding Week


Mothers and health advocates in East Tennessee kicked off World Breastfeeding Week Friday.

Local moms united with those around the world for the "big latch on" at 10:30 a.m., when they all breastfed their babies at the exact same time.

East Tennessee moms gathered for the event at Ijams Nature Center. Guests also learned about how businesses can make a pledge to welcome breastfeeding.

KPD identifies motorcyclist killed in south Knoxville crash


(WBIR) Knoxville police identified the motorcyclist who died after he crashed on in south Knoxville Saturday evening.

The accident happened on Chapman Highway just north of East Dick Ford Lane at about 5 p.m., according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Zebediah Martin, 23, was driving his motorcycle in the left lane on Chapman Highway when an SUV made a U-turn in front of him.

Propane tank explodes in South Knox Co. house fire

(WBIR-Knox County) A South Knox County home is a total loss after a house fire caused a propane tank to explode Sunday morning.

KFD: Lightning suspected as cause of South Knox house fire


(WBIR) A line of severe storms moving through East Tennessee likely caused a fire at a South Knoxville home Sunday evening.

Knoxville Fire Department spokesperson Captain D.J. Corcoran said the family made it out safely from their home on the 1300 block of Barclay Heights Lane.

Fire crews found flames coming through the roof when they arrived around 9:15 p.m.

Corcoran said while the official cause of the fire is still being determined, they suspect lightning is the cause.

Homeowner, burglar involved in shootout


Sheriff's deputies say a shootout happened Monday between a homeowner and two burglars that were stealing stuff from his house.

It happened on Sevierville Pike around 6:30 in the evening.

Deputies say the homeowner came home and saw two men leaving his house. Investigators say the homeowner shot first and the burglars shot back.

No one was hurt and the sheriff's office is looking for suspects.


Knox Firefighters revive family's cat after overnight fire


(WBIR) A South Knoxville family plans to stay with relatives after an overnight electrical fire damaged their South Knoxville home.

Knoxville Fire Department said crews responded to the 500 block of Woodlawn Pike around 2 a.m. Thursday for a report of a house on fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the family had made it out safely after calling 911. Firefighters quickly put out the flames in the home's basement.

Firefighters also found and resuscitated one of the family's two cats.
